Available Library Options for Carrying Your Newborn
Stretchy Wraps
Stretchy wraps are an ideal option for carrying a newborn. They are soft and gentle and just the right amount sportive for your small baby. Many are also suitable when your baby is less than 3kg/7lbs when other carrier may not be an option. They’re also great for supporting skin to skin time and for popping your baby in and out throughout the day without having to take the whole carrier on and off too.
In our library we have several stretchy wrap options. Including Hana Wraps, Izmi Wraps and KariMe Wraps. Some are thicker and wider others softer and stretchier. When you come to sling library of have a consultation you can have a good feel and try out and think about which one suits you best.

Stretchy Hybrid Carriers
Some carriers are ideal for newborn babies because they are soft and often stretchy but always more pliable than regular bigger baby or so called “birth to potty” options.
In our library we have several options in this category.
The Close Caboo carrier and the Neko Tiny carrier are the options which are suitable for the smallest babies.
The Close Caboo works very much like a stretchy wrap that is already pre-tied for you. The Neko Tiny works much more like a buckled carrier clipping around your waist and then coming over your baby and shoulders crossing over at the back and clipping on opposite sides.

Neko Tiny
Other newborn suitable carriers that you can use once your baby is over the 3kg/7lbs weight limit are the Ergo Embrace and the Boba Bliss. Both of these work just as the Neko Tiny with a waist belt and shoulder straps that cross on your back.

Woven wraps and ring slings
All of the above options are brilliant while your baby is small but if you want to keep carrying after they begin to get heavier you will want to move on to other options. Look out for our next blog post coming soon all about the many different options for buckle carriers.
The only carriers that really fit well from birth to once your preschooler is ready to walk everywhere are ring slings and woven wraps. These can often feel intimidating as we’re not used to seeing them on TV or around in the supermarket etc. But with a little support and some practice a woven wrap or a ring sling can be a brilliant option for your newborn that you both come to love so much that you keep going through the baby stage and into the toddler years and beyond.
Ring slings are a good option for when you want to carry a baby (or toddler) who likes or needs to go up and down regularly as they are easy to pop in and out of once you’ve mastered the art of tightening into a comfortable position. They only provide support on one shoulder however so some people like to have another option for when they will be carrying baby for an extended period of time.
Woven wraps are extremely versatile and can be tied in too many ways to detail here. They make a lovely option for a newborn as they are soft and comfortable and are great for when you want to carry your baby for longer periods as they are very supportive. This is one of the good tying options when you’re starting out but once you get going you’ll find there’s loads of ways to wrap your baby and you can have lots of fun finding one that suits you and your baby best.
